2. We Have A Work to Do Members of the local church have a three-fold work: benevolence (2 Cor. 9:1-7, edification (Eph. 4:12ff), and evangelism (Acts 13:1ff) We will focus on the work of evangelism which produces growth (Acts 2:47; 5:14; 6:1)

3. The Four Essentials These are essential for any worthwhile venture (church, business, nation, etc.) What are they? –A personal duty –A powerful faith –A prevailing prayer –A persistent effort

4. A Personal Duty Each one must have a personal duty that is committed to this church’s growth We will not grow when we are not personally invested in the growth process Lk. 17:10; Eph. 4:16

5. A Powerful Faith Each one must have a powerful faith that believes we can grow We will not grow when we do not believe we can grow and overcome obstacles Numbers 13:30-33

6. A Prevailing Prayer Each one must have a prevailing prayer that asks the Lord for growth We will not grow when we do not pray for growth, then go out and labor Lk. 10:2; Eph. 6:19; Col. 4:3; 1 Thess. 5:17; 1 Tim. 2:1-4; Jas. 5:16-18

7. A Persistent Effort Each one must have a persistent effort that does not quit; keeps trying We will not grow when we give up after the first time Mk. 2:1-5; Mt. 10:14; Acts 13:46, 51; 1 Cor. 15:58; Phil. 3:12-14
