2 T HE FRAMEWORK Adhere to principles of consultation and consensus  F&AC to form a task force chaired by USA  Chairs of the Goal committees and relevant goal liaisons, IDI, the Secretary General and Director of Strategic Planning make up the task force  The Regional Working Groups to be consulted  All member SAIs shall have opportunity to comment on the Plan 2

3 A PPROACH TO THE WORK  New plan merely an update of the current Plan  Same Goals, Mission and Vision as before  New strategies (programs and activities) to be added and some of the established strategies to be maintained  Goal Chairs to lead the work 3

4 Q UESTIONS WHEN UPDATING STRATEGIES  Letters to the Goal Chairs to initiate the work, including work papers for collecting opinions from subcommittees focusing on the following questions:  Have all the main elements in the first Plan been adhered to and should they be kept?  How well are the current strategies functioning, do they need to be revised?  Are there needs for additional activities and programs to support the achivement of the strategic goals ? 4

5 P ROGRESS OF THE WORK  Updated Existing Strategies and programs - approved by the Goal Chairs  Goal Chairs work on Proposed strategies for 2011-2016  Updated the Introduction part of the plan  Updated Appendix 1 - Current Principal INTOSAI Bodies  Harmonized presentation 5

6 F URTHER WORK – TIME FRAME  October 2008, first draft ready for comments  October 2008, preparatory meeting in Task Force before the Governing Board meeting  October 2008, discussions of strategies under relevant Goals in Steering committees, PSC / CBC  November 2008, discussions in Governing Board  November 2008 – March 2009, insert inputs from October/November consultancy round  Spring 2009, Task Force reports to F&AC  Spring 2009, draft Strategic Plan sent to all SAIs and Regional secretariats for comments 6

7 F URTHER WORK – TIME FRAME  August – October 2009, redrafting strategies after consultation with the member SAIs  August – October 2009, harmonizing presentation  November 2009, a possible Task Force meeting, report to F&AC and to the Governing Board  November 2009, preliminary approval by the Governing Board  November 2009 – January 2010, editing the draft, harmonizing presentation  March 2010, meeting of the F&AC, summing up commentaries, preparing the final draft  June 2010, finalized proposal sent for translation and included in Governing Board and INCOSAI papers 7
