3. Major 3 rd - Kumbayah, Do-Mi Perfect 4 th - “Here Comes the Bride” Tritone- sounds very dissonant. Song is “Maria, I just met a girl named Maria” from West Side Story. Also referred to as the “devil’s interval”

4. Perfect 5 th - Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, “Star Wars” theme Minor 6 th - honestly, I don’t know a song Major 6th- NBC, My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean

5. Minor 7th- “There’s A Place For Us” from West Side Story Major 7 th - Listen for the top note wanting to resolve to Do. The solfege is Do-Ti Perfect Octave- Somewhere Over the Rainbow

6. Major: sounds happy, pretty Basic arpeggio: Do-Mi-So Minor: sounds sad, lonely Arpeggio: Do-Me-So (third scale degree is lowered a half step)

7. Diminished: sounds like someone is stuck on train tracks in a movie Arpeggio: Do-Me-Se (both third scale degree and fifth are lowered a half step) Augmented: sounds like a dream sequence; more “odd” then peaceful Arpeggio: Do-Mi-Si (fifth scale degree is raised a half step)

8. Be sure to be working on your intervals/ chords EVERY DAY! It’s important. Even if you think you know it all already, we can all stand for a little improvement.
