By: Jared Martin 6 th period

Real world problem  Josh got $155.75 for his birthday, and he bought x pair of shoes with it.

Equation  Y= 155.75-25x

Independent and dependent variables  The change depends on the amount of money spent.

Is it a function? Why?  Yes, because it passes the vertical line test, and the x value doesn’t repeat.

Definition for domain and range.  Domain- the set of possible input values of a relation or function. ( 1,2,3,4,5)  Range- the set of output values of a function or relation. ( 130.75, 105.75, 80.75, 55.75, 30.75)

Is the domain continuous or discrete? Why?  Discrete, because you cant buy a half a pair of shoes.

Equation stated and function notation  Y= 155.75-25x  F(x)= 155.75-25x

Table xY=155.75-25xy(x,y) 1Y=155.75-25(1)130.75(1,130.75) 2Y=155.75-25(2)105.75(2,105.75) 3Y=155.75-25(3)80.75(3,80.75) 4Y=155.75-25(4)55.75(4,55.75) 5Y=155.75-25(5)30.75(5,30.75)
