1 Environment

2 What is environment? The natural environment encompasses all living and non- living things occurring naturally on Earth. It is an environment that encompasses the interaction of all living species. The concept of the natural environment can be distinguished by components: Complete ecological units that function as natural systems without massive human intervention, including all vegetation, microorganisms, soil, rocks, atmosphere, and natural phenomena that occur within their boundaries. Universal natural resources and physical phenomenon that lack clear-cut boundaries, such as air , water, and climate, as well as energy, radiation, electric charge, and magnetism, not originating from human activity. The natural environment is contrasted with the built environment, which comprises the areas and components that are strongly influenced by humans. A geographical area is regarded as a natural environment.

4 A.Environmental Protection
Environmental protection is a practice of protecting the environment, on individual, organizational or governmental level, for the benefit of the natural environment and (or) humans. Due to the pressures of population and our technology the biophysical environment is being degraded. Since the 1960s activism by the environmental movement has created awareness of the various environmental issues.

5 Romulus Whitaker Romulus Earl Whitaker (born May 23, 1943) is a herpetologist, wildlife conservationist and founder of the Madras Snake Park, The Andaman and Nicobar Environment Trust (ANET), and the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust. In 2008, Whitaker was selected as an Associate Laureate in the 2008 Rolex Awards for Enterprise, for his efforts to create a network of rainforest research stations throughout India.

6 Rain forests Preservation
A major threat to the rainforest is the logging companies that come in and clear land to harvest big trees. There are only about two upper canopy trees (higher trees) per acre, and cutting down these trees almost destroys the upper canopy which is home to most of the birds in the rainforest. Another threat is farming and cattle ranching. People chop down the trees to clear areas, but the soil is not good, so soon they have to move to another area. A third reason the forests are destroyed is for gold and silver mining.

8 Wetlands A wetland is an area of land whose soil is saturated with water either permanently or seasonally. Wetlands are categorized by their characteristic vegetation, which is adapted to these unique soil conditions. The water found in wetlands can be saltwater, freshwater, or brackish. Wetlands include swamps, marshes, and bogs, among others.

12 Development “The three legs: one leg is peace, other leg is good governance, the third leg is sustainable management of resources. When we have these three legs. Now we can put up the basin, which is development. And if you try to balance that stool without those legs it won’t happen.” – Wangari Maathai

13 Indian marriages- colossal wastage of food
Indian’s spend life savings on wedding. Wedding market in India is approximately 1,50,000 crores per year. India also hosts one of the biggest armies of starving people in the world. No wastage more condemnable than wastage o food. It is them responsibility of the guests to limit the size of servings according to their appetite. It is advised to take spoonfuls of each to taste and decide, instead of filling the plate with every dish

15 Ecological Footprint Ecological footprint is the measure of humanity’s demand on nature. It measures how much land and water area are human population requires to produce the resource it consumes and to absorb it’s wastes, using prevailing technology.

17 Vanishing Rocks Of Hyderabad
Nature has blessed Hyderabad with some of the most beautiful and unique ancient rock formations. Geologists date these rocks to 2,500 million years back which remain a peculiar feature of the vast tableland, the Deccan Plateau, where Hyderabad sits and are amongst the oldest and hardest rocks in the world. Hyderabad is placing itself firmly on the tourist map. But not only manmade heritage attracts - every visitor admires the balancing boulders of our landscapes with awe.

19 The indiscriminate cutting down of the rocks is seen with dismay
The indiscriminate cutting down of the rocks is seen with dismay. We need to protect rock formations as natural monuments and tourist attractions; with a minimum of infrastructure established, we can have the eco and adventure travelers come flocking in to enjoy our natural wonders. Rocky areas are a treasure trove of unique flora and fauna, including ancient micro-organisms. They are important for water management: percolation and recharge of groundwater The Society to Save Rocks wants to show citizens and the government alike the value of our landscape. The success of this environmental protection group is largely due to its awareness campaigns. Rock walks are organized regularly, and rock excursions arranged for school students. Let us lend our hands in saving these spectacular natural beauties.
