The cross and sickness “Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows,... and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:4a, 6b). “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) Sickness, in general, is the consequence of the presence of evil in the world. The death of Christ on the cross opens the possibility for every type of physical problem to be healed—although we must not demand God to heal because He is sovereign.

3. The cross and sickness Scripture says, “It’s the will of God that you enjoy physical and spiritual health” (3 John 2). Power in the death of Christ over generational sickness: –High blood pressure – Mental problems – Cancer – Heart problems – Alcoholism –What generational sickness have been on both sides of your family?

5. Victory over death Thanks to Jesus, death is simply the entrance into something far better.... By conquering death, Jesus took away the devil’s power over death. No longer will we die eternally because we have the guarantee of the resurrection. Scripture says, “Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Hebrews 2:14,15)

6. Victory over death Satan came to kill and destroy. He introduced sin into the world and death through sin (Rom. 5: 12; 6:23). Jesus came to give us abundant and eternal life (Jn. 10.10b) “The last enemy to be destroyed is death” (1 Corinthians 15:26). “Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death” (Revelation 20:14). “And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true” (Revelation 21:3-5).

7. Ministry time (as a group) If anyone is sick or is bound by fear of death, please come forward and the pastors/elders will pray for God’s healing while anointing you with oil.
