4 Behlke switches The selected high voltage switches are semiconductor (MOSFET) based with safe push-pull functionality. This means they have an internal logic that avoids the high and low side switches of the push-pull to be closed at the same time, avoiding short-circuits. Behlke switches are ideal for this purpose and are well inside the voltage, current and timing settings for this application. These switches have to support at least 10kV and a feed trough current of 60A (pulsed). It also needs the lowest on-resistance as possible. The selected switch HTS 111-13-HB-B-C has the following characteristics: -Max voltage :2x 11.7 kV -Peak current: 2x 130 A -On-resistance: 2x 1.5 Ohm

5 High voltage pulse pickups The two fast pickups are connected directly on the high voltage outputs to the fast deflector tank. The two pickups need to be compensated with capacitors to follow the fast rising and falling edges. A potentiometer and a variable capacitor are placed on the low voltage side of the divider to adjust the accuracy of the pickup.
