Present-tense Subject Verb Agreement
3
Making sure our subjects and verbs match each other in present-tense Basically, do we add an “s” or not? Is it walk or walks? Eat or eats? Play or plays?
4
Singular subjects Add an “s” One person/thing If you can replace it with HE, SHE, or IT, it’s singular Exception: helping verbs get rid of the “s” She can walk, Does he eat?, Will she have that?
5
Plural subjects No “s” Just regular present-tense If you can replace it with THEY, it’s plural I, YOU, WE also get just regular present-tense
