2. i ntegrity, i nclusion, i ndividual The Three i’s of Self-Direction

3. integrity n : [in-teg-ri-tee] Integrity is a personal quality of fairness that we all aspire to – unless you’re a dishonest, immoral scoundrel, of course.

4. integrity Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. It is generally a personal choice to uphold oneself to consistently moral and ethical Standards.

5. Having integrity means: Doing the right thing in a reliable way. It’s a personality trait that is admired. It means a person has a moral compass that doesn’t waver. To respect a person who respects you when you aren’t around. …Doing the right thing even when nobody’s looking. …Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. If it is not right, do not do it. If it is not true, do not say it.

6. Having integrity means: In ethics, you are regarded by many people as the honest and truthful and judged by the accuracy of one’s actions. Integrity can stand in opposition to hypocrisy.

7. inclusion n : [in-kloo-zhuh n] Inclusion is the act of including someone in something, like a school, club, team or job.

8. inclusion Inclusion is part of a much larger picture than just “placement.” It is being included in life and participating in one’s abilities in day to day activities as a member of the community. It is being a part of what everyone else is, and being welcomed and embraced as a member who belongs. Inclusion can occur in schools, churches, play-grounds, work and in recreation.

9. inclusion Having meaning and purpose to what you do and who you are, provides inspiration. A sense of belonging, being loved, having relationships and friendships with others enriches our lives. Inclusion does not occur by placement in the regular class or the regular job alone- …rather it is a desired end-state.

10. inclusion As with any of our needs, a focus on one at the expense of the others does not maximize the overall quality of life. …Inclusion is about meeting all those needs, and maximizing a person’s overall quality of life. Inclusion is “not” a trade-off of supports and services for placement and is not a trade-off of achievement of individual goals.

11. individual n : [in-duh-vij-oo-uh l] …a SINGLE HUMAN being distinct from a group, class or family. Everyone is an individual. But not everyone realizes that…

12. individual An individual has their ‘own’ mind and seeks enlightenment through completing personal tasks set by themselves and are not influenced by someone else’s opinion simply because they are ‘popular’. A person who lives life dominated by their own personal values, beliefs and ambitions.

13. individual A true “individual” doesn’t even realize they are an individual, they are just doing their thing and it feels natural to them. Anyone who calls themselves an individual and thinks they aren’t part of culture and society is stupid.

14. individual Individual – Meaning a person who acts in the way they want to and is not bound by the sad rules of society- …lives life fulfilling goals for their self-esteem. These people do not conform to the ‘masses’ and are therefore sworn enemy to the common man.
