In English 7 students learn to read and analyze literature, work on vocabulary building, grammar and understanding the writing process. If your student is not a strong reader they should practice reading now and this summer.

9 United States History A survey of American History Geography
Modern America: to the Early 1900’s Turmoil and Change: 1890 to 1945 The U.S. since World War II Hello my name is Niu Niu Luken, All 7th graders take US History, 1877 to the present. On the screen you can see a few areas that we cover. Can you name two technological advances that helped the great planes? Did you think of Barbed wire, steel plows, windmills and the railroads. Where was the largest automobile industry? Detroit If someone asked you about the Southwest states would you think of Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico or Arizona Did you know that Langston Hughes was a Poet during the Harlem Renaissance? The causes of World War 2, or the Great Depression. Well this is just a sample of what students will learn in 7th Grade US History. Thank you!

Explore the cellular organization and classification of organisms. Relationships of organism, populations, communities and the ecosystem. Develop inquiry skills. Hello my name is Zoey Dlott l. All 7th graders take life science. aim middle school we actually have science in a real science lab with real equipment and materials. About 60% of the class time is spent doing lab experiments. We learn about natural science which includes plants and animal cells as well as various ecosystems.,genes and DNA. Fir this coming school year your students will be asked some questions like, As scientists how do we determine if something is living? can you identify the parts of the cell? where do genes come from? how does DNA affect you? Mathematics Math 7 Math 7 Honors Algebra 1 Honors Hello my name is Iksha Rohatgi, I am going to talk to you about the mathematics courses at Langston Hughes. Most 7th graders take Math 7 or Math 7 Honors both of these courses prepare you for Algebra 1. The Math 7 honors curriculum is the same as taking Math 8 honors. There is a select number of students who take Algebra 1 Honors (those decisions will be made in the summer) In math this year you will study the following areas: Number and Number Sense Computation and Estimation Geometry and Measurement Probability and Statistics Patterns, Functions, and Algebra Most 7th graders will be prepared to take Algebra 1 in 8th grade.

At that time students will receive a course selection sheet and course booklet to bring home. We will help students start the process and ask them to bring it home for you to help them complete it, sign it and return it to their counselor.
