Purpose & Need Sets stage for a safe and prompt decommissioning –Systems de-energized and drained –Safe dismantlement of systems and structures Modification achieves: –Elimination of once-through cooling –Continued safe management of used fuel –Reduced overall operating costs for customers 5

Project Description Replaces current ocean cooling system with a compact system better suited for a shutdown plant with lower heat load Spent Fuel Pool Island (SFPI) involves installation of chillers, heat exchangers, pumps, and piping System in use until all spent fuel is moved to dry storage 9
