Slovenia borders: Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Croatia to the south and east, Hungary to the northeast. WHERE IS SLOVENIA?

ABOUT SLOVENIA: The highest mountain is Triglav (2864 m). Slovenia is a very small country and it has very small population, too. (It covers an area of 20,273 square kilometres and has a population of 2,05 million.) The official language is Slovenian language (Slovene). The official name is Republic of Slovenia. The president is Borut Pahor. The national anthem of Slovenia is Zdravljica. The anthem was written by France Prešeren, one of the greatest Slovenian poets.

OUR FLAG The slovenian flag is striped with 3 colours: white, blue and red. On the left on the flag is the coat of arms. There are three things on the coat of arms: the three stars (for the three Counts of Celje), the three-head mountain (for the mountain Triglav, the highest mountain in Slovenia) and the river (for the river Sava, the longest river in Slovenia).

LJUBLJANA THE CAPITAL CITY OF SLOVENIA

TROMOSTOVJE Very famous are Three Bridges, we call it Tromostovje. Under it is the river Ljubljanica. In history people made bridge from timber, later they made it from stone.

PREŠERNOV TRG The most important square is Prešeren's Square. France Prešeren is very important for Slovenia, he wrote a poem, which in 1991 became the Slovenian national anthem. In the middle is Prešeren’s monument.

ZMAJEV MOST Dragon Bridge is actually a street bridge. Under it is the river Ljubljanica and on the bridge there are four dragons. Dragons are the symbol of our capital city.

NEBOTIČNIK Skyscraper stands in the centre of Ljubljana. It’s 70 meters high, it has 9 stores and it’s 18 m under the ground.
