Film Techniques Shot: the appearance of what is in each single picture :a single run of the camera

Establishing shot: Extremely long shot used at the beginning of the film to set the scene.

Long Shot: Shot filmed from a distance so you can see figures’ whole bodies.

Medium shot: Figures in shot are seen from the waist up

Medium close-up: Figures seen from mid-chest to head

Close up: Shot of head and shoulders

Extreme close-up: Shot of only a part of a figure’s face or a detail of an object

Over the shoulder shot: Camera shoots from over the shoulder of one character from behind

Reverse angle shot: Alternate over the shoulder shot. Shows viewpoint of speaker and reaction of listener.

P.O.V shot: Framed from a particular character’s point of view

Low Angle Shot: The camera looks up at the subject, making it look large and powerful.

Eye-Level Shot: The camera is level with the subject.

High Angle Shot: The camera looks down on the subject, making it look small or vulnerable.
