Final Project Web3D, Fall 2001

Objectives Summarize what you have done this semester Practice the important nodes in VRML It will look (very roughly) like the next page …

Provide a more detailed description on what the homework is about Each model contains an anchor to the homework you did Click on the image of individual homework to bind to the corresponding viewpoint Include link to source file (wrl ) Click here to bring up a new 3D wrl window

It consists of two parts: 3D scene and HTML page 3D Scene –Devise a Proto that symbolizes each homework –A simple suitable geometry (similar to a bulletin board, easel optional) will do. Include the snapshot of the scene (as texture) –Embed an Anchor in the Proto such that when clicked, the homework can be brought up in another window. A short summary about the homework should be included in the “description” of “Anchor” –Set up a viewpoint looking directly at your bulletin board –Place all your homeworks in 3D scene appropriately

HUD in 3D Scene To facilitate 3D navigation, provide a HUD-type device to go from homework to homework –DO NOT USE the default viewpoint interface in VRML Plugin; make something better! Use Proto in your interface design (e.g., buttons) This HUD should be able to minimize (so that it won’t occupy much space) and to maximize (to operate).

HTML Embed the 3D scene in upper half of a framed HTML In the lower half, describe each homework in sufficient details with a snapshot of your work A click on the snapshot will bind the viewpoint (upper frame) to the corresponding homework Anchor on the 3D scene should work as before HUD should always be minimized when viewed in two-frame setting

See homepage for references/examples Due 02/04/02 8am
