2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Ephesians 5:18-21 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of God.

Colossians 3:16-17 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Ephesians 5:15-21 Impacting others with music Internal praise Thankful spirit Be filled with the Spirit or spiritually filled Colossians 3:12-17 Impacting others with music Internal praise Thankful spirit Let God’s word richly dwell in you

A Spiritual Life A key starting place for a spiritually oriented life is one in which God’s word dominates our focus, value system, and perspective.

James 1:19-22 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

James 1:23-25 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

James 1:19-25 The Word can deliver my life from sin’s ruin I need to use it’s teachings Obedience starts with the reality of who I am In one sense, it is the most natural thing in the world for me to live out what the Word teaches!

2 Timothy 3:1-5 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power

While I’m developing a spiritual mind set, the world around me is going the opposite direction!

A Spiritual Life While I’m developing a spiritual mind set, the world around me is going the opposite direct.

2 Tim. 3:9-11 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was. But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me.

True of both an unbeliever and a carnal believer Failure to use the Word can result in a lack of practical answers and make their lives a mess.

So can be the lives of untrained believers! We need the Word!

2 Tim. 3:12-15 Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.

2 Tim. 3:14-15 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

A Spiritual Life The salvation here is certainly eternal, but in context involves persecutions and deceptions.

2 Tim. 3:16-17 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

The Word = “God-breathed” Living, practical, personal, powerful and relevant.

The Word = “Profitable” It is far more than a book of what is naughty and nice!

Let’s pretend these things are true about God; He… Is altogether wise Knows everything Has no limits to His understanding Is everywhere Has the power to do anything Cares about the smallest details of your life Hears and responds to every prayer

The Word: Reproof To scrutinize, bring to light, examine carefully; to bring a person to the point of recognizing wrong doing, convict, convince; to express strong disapproval of someone’s action, reprove, correct

Result? As we live life and minister to others, Scripture completely prepares us and gives us all we need.

The Word: Correction Correcting, restoration, idea of improvement

The Word: Correction Correcting, restoration, idea of improvement

The Word: Correction Our thinking, our perspective needs to be changed. Remember Saul! InsecurityInferiority Inadequacy

The Word: Training in righteousness Child training, discipline; the act of providing guidance for responsible living; upbringing, training, instruction, mainly as it’s attained by discipline or correction; the state of being brought up properly

The Word: Correction Our thinking, our perspective needs to be changed. Remember Saul!

The Word: Training in righteousness We need God’s perspective, His mind set on life! Romans 12:1-2; Philippians Living by emotions and circumstances is ineffective and dangerous!

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Teaching, reproof, correction, training Here’s what’s true. You’re wrong here. Here’s what you’re doing wrong. Here’s how to fix it.

Result? As we live life and minister to others, Scripture completely prepares us and gives us all we need.
