But even a small uplift can create the same degree of peril.

Our residents wanted to blame the city & turned to the city leaders.

Assist property owners with logistics & costs ◦ City fund pays 50% and homeowner is billed for 50% Prevent & repair tripping hazards for public safety Reduce possible litigation Reinforce understanding of property owners’ responsibilities Ensure repairs & replacements meet current design standards

Over 1700 points of interest evaluated

Trip hazards that measure less than 2” are scheduled for a concrete grinding or shave Temporary fix Very low cost No tree or root extraction

Trip hazards that measure greater than 2” are scheduled for a remove & replace More permanent fix More expensive Trees & roots that are causing the uplift are addressed

Letters of Notification sent by Certified Mail to track receipt Owners given 21 days to return signed agreement opting into the program Site visits from inspector available upon request Estimated costs for repairs offered Most residents are shocked at first, but with clear explanation of the cost sharing with very reasonable estimated costs, over 95% join the program.

A good, clean grinding with no crumbling. A smooth, broomed finish with no graffiti.

Bills are generated showing the total cost of repairs, the 50% of charges covered by the city & and the remaining balance to be paid Homeowners have 12 months interest free to pay down the balance To date only 2 residents in the 3 years of the program have had a lien placed on their property as a result of non-payment

Arborist Inspections at 150 addresses Over 70 Street Tree Removal Permits pulled Over 1030 Shaves Nearly 200 addresses with 1 or more R&R’s Average costs for past 3 years to contractors: $46,803 On schedule to complete final area by June 2016
