Lesson plan (life in the future) (90’ min) Preparation time (1hour) )

PRESTAGE 1. Ask students to watch life in the future video at home (sent them the link) and note their thoughts. (homework ) http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=life+in +future&qs=n&form=QBVR&pq=life+in+future &sc=3-14&sp=- 1T&sk=#view=detail&mid=0D7E9D8C6F4CC97 284060D7E9D8C6F4CC9728406

2 When in classroom, show them the School in future video (6 min / it’s a 3min video but there might be a need to replay video)(This is a setting up activity) http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=schoo ls+in+future&FORM=HDRSC3#view=detail&mi d=0747E37242A9C01E71C90747E37242A9C0 1E71C9

3 Begin conversation about life in the future by asking a few questions! (give each group a copy of the questions) (10 min) Did you like the videos? Do you agree with what you saw? How do you think your life will be like in the future? Will it be better or worse? Will schools be different?

WHILE STAGE 4 After talking, divide them into groups (two students per group) and ask them to write down their list of ideas about life in the future. One will write down the ideas (secretary) and the other will read in class the notes (presenter) explain that they have to write down their notes in sentences using will or won’t, reminding them that we use will to make predictions about the future also ask them to write negative ideas under the puzzled computer robot and positive ones under the transformers robot –vehicle. (15 min )

LIST OF PREDICTIONS WORSE BETTER

After presenting all ideas and noting them on board stick a big will sticker next the ideas (5min)

5 Present a few pictures (ppt. presentation) to introduce some new vocabulary Theme Summer Holidays. Then stick all Photos on the board. Make a discussion by asking them which are their favorites on the board! What kind of vacation are you dreaming of? (10min)

6 Ask them all to get up. Explain that they will play a mime game. Each group will have to choose one of the holidays and then mime (without talking). The others will have to guess which vacation the group has chosen to plan for their summer holidays. Explain that they will have to use Going to since their vacation is something planned and therefore certain to happen (in future). (15 min) (5 min for each group)

7 Stick on the board the big GOING TO sticker and the photos which were also used in the presentation ( activity 5). (3 min clear up time)

8 Ask: What are your personal plans for this summer holidays? Choose from the photos on the board. Encourage the use of going to while answering the questions, remind them that we use going to, to talk about future plans and intentions (planned and certain to happen).Give them all the time they need to note down their answers and then read them out in class. (10 min)

9 To end lesson I found a game to play as to see future structures together. It’s also in power point and it’s called How to be a millionaire. ( 10 min)

POST STAGE 9 Give Reading Comprehension and writing skill activities for homework. They can choose between three different activities. Each activity has a different level of difficulty. Explain carefully what they will have to do in each activity. (5 min)

GROUPS I decided to use a mixed grouping. If you group students together with a mix of ability levels, the high achievers tend to help the low achievers Higher achiever/ Lower achiever groups 1.Ili usually works well with his sister Jessie who is always willing to help him as she is a higher achiever. 2.Basilica groups effectively with Debbie. As they share common interests. Debbie is easy to work with. She is easy going and likes everyone in her class. She really works well with everyone except Joanna who is the exact opposite. 3.Joanna is a little bit more difficult to cope with as she feels easily pressured by her peers because she is highly competitive and always wants to be the leader. The only ones she seems to work well with are Jessie and Helen because they are also very romantic personalities. So this time she will work with Helen.
