OTS Pitch
2
Film Logline ‘Recreational’ is a crime based thriller surrounding a young, off the rails type of lad, with no ambition, not many friends, doesn’t go to school and has no general idea of what he wants in life. This film follows the portrayal of this ‘chavy’, low life degenerate who lives at home with his Dad. It conveys a roller coaster ride of a transition from rags to riches he is fortunate to find a large bag of white powder (Cocaine) and begins to start dealing, yet he is unaware of the inevitable repercussions. Aspects of OTS- Our opening title sequence will introduce the main character by using a combination conceptual images and character representation to construct a vague yet interesting portrayal of storyline.

Synopsis We are introduced to Eli in the first shot of the OTS. He is portrayed as a lonely teenager, being filmed in dark and dangerous places which reflects his solidarity. Eli will be situated in Brighton town where he will spend most of his time wandering around the streets, watching happy families and rich men spend money. A series of wide shots will compose his loneliness, sitting on his own and walking on his own. A time lapse of Eli on the beach will be created to add an increased effect of isolation and also to vary the shots used. Conceptual images will be shown throughout the opening titles: money falling in slow motion will convey his greed, and create a better understanding of what the storyline consists of. We will also show a series of cuts which show small stacks of money being piled up slowly as the OTS progresses. Eli will then walk to a small alley where he will sit down to roll a cigarette to smoke. As soon as he has sparked it, a mysterious man will run past him, dropping a large envelope of some sort on the floor next to Eli. Eli will get up and pick up the package. An over the shoulder shot shows him looking inside to find it is full of cocaine. Police sirens will start to sound and Eli will quickly pocket the drugs and run. The final shot will be a low angle shot of Eli’s foot while he is running away in the background.
