In 1994 branch of “Nerpa” repair yard “Zvezdochka” Ship repair center” JSC began technical re-equipping of the repair yard to solve tasks concerning fishing vessels repair and re-equipping as well as their modernization and construction.

“Nerpa” RY mastered production of small size vessels for fishing and other hydrobionts (sea hedgehog, laminaria etc.) in the navigation period, fare transportation and practice of an optimal vessel usage variant within inshore fisheries program.

Year 1998 Hull of “Nerpa” small size fishing vessel was floated out that is the first small size vessel in the vessel construction program of the enterprise. Year 2000 15 fishing barges were built for fishery companies of Norilsk town according to the project developed by “Nerpa” Repair Yard. Year 2001 3 small size fishing motorboats were built for Murmansk company “Arctic-Pak” according to project PC-02 developed by the enterprise. Year 2003 6 vessels of PC-03 type (yard building №№ 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006) and 8 vessels of РС-04 type (yard building №№ 005, 008, 011, 004, 007, 009, 010, 006) were built.

Nowadays there are hulls of fishing vessels pr. PC-03 and PC-04 in the ship yard stock which were built by the yard and of different degree of technical readiness: РС-03 yard building № 005 – technical readiness 17%; РС-03 yard building № 006 – technical readiness 17%; РС-04 yard building № 011 –technical readiness 33%; РС-04 yard building № 009 – technical readiness 50%. quality and quantity estimation of an active composition of the fishery fleet and unexploited vessels decommissioning; fishery fleet renovation shall be carried out at ship construction and repair yards of the Murmansk Territory; formation of legislative acts block that could support Russian fishery complex enterprises and regional ship building enterprises; regional support of resources’ provision (quotas provision) for rebuilt yards; stimulation of life-expired vessels decommissioning.

Branch “Nerpa” Repair yard as a ship repairing and building enterprise thinks that nowadays all necessary conditions for changing regional fishery policy for revival of the Murmansk Territory fishing fleet are formed. Nowadays there are real opportunities for activation of regional enterprises activity for construction and modernization of fishing vessels.
