2 The over all system  The skin and other parts of the integumentary system work with other systems in your body to maintain and support the conditions that your cells, tissues, and organs need to function properly. The skin is one of the first defenses in your immune system.

3 Function  Protects the body's internal living tissues and organs  Protects against invasion by infectious organisms  Protects the body from dehydration  Protects the body against abrupt changes in temperature  Helps dispose of waste materials  Acts as a receptor for touch, pressure, pain, heat, and cold  Stores water and fat

5 Fishy  Skin  Most general function is protection and coloration  Epidermis  -Constantly regenerating  Mucus Layer  -Helps slide through water  -Rids fish of parasites  Scales  -Give fish their color  -Can help you determine age 

7 Birdy .  The fowl’s skin is divided into a number of separate areas where the skin has been modified to some extent to be able to carry out special functions.

8 These are:  The feathered skin.  The scale covered skin on the lower legs and feet.  The hard, horny areas of the beak and toenails.  The pad of the foot (or plantar).The skin of the comb and wattles.
