School Census 2014 Secondary School Application Version 0.1
4
The default Census Date is the 2 nd October, i.e. the first Thursday in October.
5
It’s a good idea to provide a unique name, as we might want to provide several files before we are ready to Authorise
6
The dates for collecting the historical data are as expected
7
Click to calculate the default values for the remaining panels
9
As requested by customers, we have made it possible for last year’s return to be ignored for allocating Planned End Dates and for exam results to be ignored for allocating QAN/Discount Codes. For this demonstration will we accept the default position where last year’s return and exam results are taken into account
10
We haven’t updated the Top-up Funding information, so we click Edit to open this functionality
11
In this case we have provided facilities for copying the information from what was entered for the Summer Census
12
Three pupils have been copied forward from the Summer Census information
13
SEN might prove to be a helpful filter
18
Once we have added the pupils as necessary we click Update to save and OK to return to the Census application
20
Again, we click edit to modify the Adopted from Care information
21
I this case we don’t need to add any more students, but if we did the procedure is very similar to Top up Funding
22
We can update the Evidence Obtained tick by clicking on the tick box.
27
We will ignore the missing marks for this dry run.
28
The most visible change to the table from last year is the addition of the Core Aim column
29
It is quite possible to have different Core Aim for 2013/14 than for 2014/15
30
However, there is also a big change behind the scenes, where calculation of the best result has been complicated by reallocation of Discount Codes by Awarding Organisations but not by QWS.
31
By default the table is locked against data entry, as it is better to provide Learning Aim information as stored for Course Management. However, there are situations where it is reasonable to unlock the table, so information can be modified to fully reflect the facts
32
The rows that can now be edited are displayed with a white background
33
Bulk entry facilities are available for the date columns, which we can illustrate here by updating a group of P End Dates
34
We start by getting the P End Date ordered on those dates by clicking in its column header
35
We can use Click and Shift Click to select the rows for bulk entry
36
Shift Click
39
Although Course Management only allows one Core Aim per student per academic year, there are certain unusual circumstances where more than one Core Aim is allowed. The additional Core Aims can be entered directly into this panel
40
Learning Aim records can also be created in their entirety by use of the Add button
41
Add allows a Learning Aim to be added for a particular student
51
We have ordered on P End Date so the record we have just created without a P End Date will be a the top of the table
52
We must now enter the rest of the information for the record
61
We can also exclude records
64
Create & Validate will take quite a long time, as there is a lot of Attendance and Learning Aim information to collect and validate
66
This is a dry run so we can ignore the missing attendance marks
70
The DfE have not yet provided the files for validation or for the summary report, so we will just look at the detail reports provided by Capita SIMS
88
Thank you for your time This demonstration will be updated when the DfE files for the Validation and Summer Report are included
