7 Maintaining healthy body weight Energy in Energy out

8 The balancing act….. Energy in Energy out The food you eat needs to be balanced with the amount of exercise you expend. Energy which isn’t used is stored as fat in the body. If you eat too much and do not expend the energy there will be an increase in weight. Regular physical activity uses energy which can in turn can make a person look better, give more definition and shape and make it easier to move. Weight loss is an important factor in peoples involvement in physical activity.

9 Example Windsurfing influenced my physical well being when I was pulling up the sail to get started. I used all my arm strength because the sail was in the water and hard to lift out. My arms got tired and sore very quickly because I had to keep lifting the sail out of he water as I kept falling off the board due to my poor balance. Also the sea conditions were quite rough and the wind strong. My friend helped me by telling me to use my legs by ending my knees first and keep my back straight before I pulled up the sail. This made the pulling up of the sail much easier and my arms did not get tired.
