3 A fun hands on lab to search for digital media in DE streaming Utilize the free version of Google Sky to build a lesson about a constellation Tell a digital story by navigating through the cosmos Use location markers, and the DE Assignment Builder to link to digital media Be as creative as you want!

4 Project Instructions: DE streaming & Google Sky A. Open Google Earth 4.2.0205.5730 - Select View at he top and switch to Sky at the bottom. - Then see View and expand to Backyard Astronomy - Then select only Constellations - Then either navigate the sky to find the constellation your group would like to focus on, or as a quick method decide on a constellation from current class focus or interest and type it into the Google Sky search field, and click the magnifying glass. B. Research digital media in Discovery Education streaming. Be creative and find content related to multiple subjects areas. Examples: - Types of stars within constellations ( Science) -What is the origin of the name? - What is the significance of this constellation in mythological terms? - Are there any current classroom applications to consider from individual attendees?

Login into DE streaming and after finding selected digital video segments create a student accessible link and assignment to allow for safely sharing the video segment with students on demand via the Assignment Builder. - After you find the video segment you want to highlight, place a check mark beside the video segment - Then click on the Add to arrow and highlight Assignment on the drop down menu - Then click Add to right the side, and follow the instructions. - Once the Assignment is generated use the right mouse key to copy the entire student generated assignment link. D. Create a Placemark in Google Sky. - Navigate to your selected constellation and then select Add from the top left menu of Google Sky - Then select Placemark, and give your Placemark a title in the box provided at the top. - In the Placmark Description box paste the link from the student generated assignment link from the DE streaming Assignment Builder you created above. 6 E. Display your Google Sky constellation and Media - Display the Constellation that you found along with the linked Media via Projector to class and in this case our project - Email both the constellation Placemark and Student Media link to your students individually. - Instruct them to first open Google Earth then go to Open File and select the file that they emailed to see the location prior to viewing the related assignment.
