What is Chemistry ?
3
Chemistry is the study of matter ; their properties, structure, and the changes they undergo.

caffeine Caffeine exhibits a number of biological effects resulting from its diuretic and stimulant properties. Research has shown that some sensitive individuals experience side effects such as insomnia, headaches, irritability and nervousness. C C 8 H 10 N 4 O 2 H N O

What is matter ? Anything that has mass and occupies space. What are the three main physical states of matter? (KE and PE) http://www.harcourtschool.com/activity/states_of_matter/

Physical X Chemical Change Physical changes are those changes that do not result in the production of a new substance. If you melt a block of ice, you still have H 2 O at the end of the change. If you break a bottle, you still have glass. Painting a piece of wood will not make it stop being wood. Common examples :melting, freezing, condensing, breaking, crushing, cutting, and bending. Chemical changes, or chemical reactions, are changes that result in the production of another substance. When you burn a log in a fireplace, you are carrying out a chemical reaction that releases carbon. When you light your Bunsen burner in lab, you are carrying out a chemical reaction that produces water and carbon dioxide. Common examples :digestion, respiration, photosynthesis, burning, and decomposition.
