STUDENT HANDBOOK AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY

Attendance  Since most of our work must be done in the classroom and shop, good attendance is a must to achieve a high or passing grade.

Absences/ tardy  Any work must be made up. It is your responsibility, not mine. Any test or hands on that must be made up must be done in the morning or afternoon.  Being tardy can make you miss work.

Upon entering the class  Go to your seat and sit down. Do not go wondering around the room. This may result in receiving a zero or a write up for being in a unauthorized area.  Start work on board

End of class  Be prepared to stop all activities 5 minutes before the end of class. This time will used for clean up and to put all tools away. No passes will be given to you to be late to the next class because you did not use your time wisely unless permission is given by instructor. You will stay in your seats until I have dismissed you.

More end of class  Glasses in place  Tools in proper location  Areas cleaned and clutter free  Everyone in sight of instructor

Passes to this class from another class  Do not ask your teacher for a pass to come to this class.  Do not visit this class when you are supposed to be elsewhere.

Passes (bathroom, office, phone, etc…)  Make sure you use the bathroom before class.  Make sure you have all your work clothes, gym clothes, homework, etc… before coming to school. Don’t ask to use the phone for these items.  Use your time wisely, while in the hall before class. Don’t be late.

Materials needed  Safety glasses- must be worn in the shop at all times.  Pencil, pen, and paper  Closed toe shoes.

Written work  Must be neat.  No torn paper will be excepted.  If I can not read it, you will either be given a chance to do it over or receive a zero.

All work turned in  Must have a printed full name.  The date.  Period.  Title and or description.

Grading  Class participation (employability skills) 30%  Tasks and class work 25%  Tests and quizzes 35%  Semester exam 15%

Vehicle work  All vehicles must have prior approval before being allowed to shop.  I do not want to see any vehicles driven down to the shop area before school starts without prior approval.  Your emergency is not my emergency.  Buses are provided to get to and from school.

Horse play  Any student caught horse playing in the automotive shop and classroom surrounding area will be given a zero for the week in class participation and has a good chance at failing the semester. Horse playing is considered a safety violation which endangers you and the safety of all in the automotive shop and classroom setting.

Paying $$$$$  Any tools misplaced, lost or broken by abusive use will be paid for by the person responsible.  This applies to textbooks and anything else you receive.  Vandalism of any vehicle  Remember “techs don’t make money sitting, don’t get kicked out on what you’re sitting on”
