2016-01-12 2 Configure multi-hop wireless ad-hoc network & connection test using Iperf Objectives
3
2016-01-12 3 Step 1: Learn how to install AODV device driver
4
2016-01-12 4 How to install AODV Download AODV for Windows from http://www.dsg.cs.tcd.ie/dynamic/?category_id =379 http://www.dsg.cs.tcd.ie/dynamic/?category_id =379 Configure wireless adapter to be in ad-hoc mode –Set the SSID : ex) team_1, team_2, etc –Set the fixed channel : use channel 6 –Do not configure WEP Configure IP address for the interface –Allocation static IP address & mask : 192.168.143.xxx, 255.255.0.0 –Do not configure a default gateway

2016-01-12 5 Cont’d Enable the “IpEnableRouter” value to 1 Install the AODV driver In the network properties dialog box, click install, service, have-disk and choose “netfs.inf” file Restart your laptop
6
2016-01-12 6 Step 2 : AODV connection test in the classroom –How many node are identified on the route table? in the prompt window, input “route print” and then enter (if you delete route entry, “iproute –d IP_address”) You can see routes for any other aodv nodes in range –Using the Iperf, send/receive some data under the ad-hoc network

2016-01-12 7 Step 3 : AODV routing testing A’s Route table BC A B C B’s Route table A C’s Route table A

2016-01-12 8 Cont’d UDP/TCP test using Iperf –Group #1 : team#1 to #3 –Group #2 : team#4 to #6 –Group #3 : team#7 to #9

2016-01-12 9 Step 4: Describe the mechanisms how can AODV protocol work in wireless ad-hoc network Return your results after testing –Location of each group’s node –Throughput
