2. History
Guillaume-Benjamin-Amand-Duchenne discovered muscular dystrophy in the 1860’s in France.
He built a “portable electrical device” used to view muscles in response to health and disease.
According to dictionary.com, Muscular Dystrophy is, “a hereditary disease characterized by gradual wasting of the muscles with replacement by scar tissue and fat, sometimes also affecting the heart.”
Commonly referred to as “Duchenne De Boulogne”

5. Facts
Alfredo Ferrari had muscular dystrophy. He designed the 1.5 L DOHC V6 engine for F2 at the end of 1955 for his father, Enzo. He died June 30, 1956 at the age of 24.
A man living in Toledo, OH is 40 years old and is living with muscular dystrophy. (2011)
