Sea Level Rise and Flood Insurance Update Building elevations on Fort range from 4’ to 9’ 100-year base flood elevation is 9’ Wetlands Watch and National Wildlife Federation Study predict sea level rise from 24” to 27” over next century Determinations of flood insurability will require further coordination between City, Commonwealth and FEMA

7. Recommendations Request City of Hampton give Fort Monroe a high priority for their floodplain study. Continue discussions with Hampton and Newport News regarding future governance of Fort and disposition of infrastructure. If Hampton and Newport News ownership of infrastructure is desired, then undertake conditional assessment studies to determine costs for additional upgrades.

8. Recommendations - Continued Identify sources for and obtain funding to complete flood protection project. Begin discussions with Virginia Power to determine costs for power distribution infrastructure replacement.
