AB Language Arts and History Math Students are placed in math classes based on teacher recommendation and semester grade (high B or above), as well as other criteria.

Science - 3 classes offered Science 8 Earth/Physical Science Honors Science 8 A’s in Science 7 Science teacher recommendation Biology/ Honors Biology Only students currently enrolled in Advanced Science 7 may be placed in Biology or Honors Bio Science teacher recommendation for Honors Biology

PE All 8 th graders must take PE Must choose between co-ed or athletic PE 0 period and lunch PE are options ◦ 2 Performing Arts electives ◦ 1 Performing Arts elective and an intervention class ◦ 1 Performing Arts elective and an elective requiring an application ◦ 1 World Language and 1 Performing Art or elective requiring an application

Please choose your electives carefully! Unless there are special circumstances, students must remain in their chosen elective for the entire school year. Students should list 3 electives in order of preference. Students should be satisfied with all choices, as they may be placed in any of these choices.

Performing Arts Most performing art electives have unlimited seating Application Electives (A) Applications were due Jan. 30 th which included all teacher recommendations (Peer Counseling, Leadership, Yearbook, and Journalism)

AVID AVID is an elective class offered to hard working students who would like to prepare for four-year universities. The curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, note- taking and study skills, as well as college, career, and motivational activities. Students must commit to taking notes in subject-area classes on a daily basis. Helpful for students who struggle with time management/organization Other requirements for applicants are satisfactory citizenship, good attendance, Adv/Pro on CST, and G.P.A. of 2.5-3.9.

Other options include: Computer Applications Teen Living/Art Advanced Art Academic Assistant Forensics (If you are currently taking Computer App. or Teen living/Art, don’t sign up for the course again next year)

Spanish and French are offered 3.5 GPA Enrollment based upon space availability- priority given to Clovis North students

Students will be recommended by AB teacher Academic Seminar Focus on reading, comprehension, writing, homework, and organization Read 180 Individualized and computerized instruction to improve reading skills Study Strategies Receive C-/D grades consistently Focus on study skills, academic skills, and organization skills

Students may be recommended by their math teacher for this intervention class It is an additional math class for students who would benefit from extra math support in Math 8

Students who failed academic courses this year may be recommended for summer school Summer School dates: June 22 nd - July 16 th Location: Lincoln Elementary

Take home these materials and review them with your parents No parent signature = no registration! Registration form is due to your Math teacher on February 20 th. Registration will be on Feb. 24 th in the counseling center and 27 th in the LLH.
