A. The President 1. The most powerful person in the world 2. Must be born in the US 3. Must be over 35 4. Must have lived in US for at least 14 years 5. Term = 4 years 6. The President may only serve 2 ELECTED terms (22 nd Amendment) 7. Lives in Washington DC during tenure

B. The “Job” 1. Head of the Executive Branch of the government 2. Chief Executive - carries out the laws of the land (like a CEO of a company) - creates the budget for US 3. Chief of State - meets with visitors from foreign countries 4. Chief Diplomat - he sets foreign policy and treaties

C. The President’s “Team” 1. Vice President - leads the Senate - takes over for president if pres. can’t do the job 2. Executive Office - The President’s top assistants (at White House / Special Councils) - Chief of Staff directs all operations in the office - White House assistants advise President on daily matters - Press Secretary gives all news to media
