3 Poetry Open Sentence Structure Choice in Punctuation No Set Format Poetry gives us the freedom to create free verse pieces of writing. This is an opportunity to be creative in a multitude of ways. Focus on the moment in time. Be creative.

4 Moments In Time ObjectsPeopleSongsPlacesFood You will choose one of these themes to focus your Moments In Time poem. If you choose songs, you will choose 3 different songs OR the same song and focus on three different moments in time that song has impacted your life. Whatever you choose, your 3 moments should have a common thread.

5 Brainstorm Objects If you were running out of a burning building, what objects would you take with you? Create a list of objects that are important to you.

6 Brainstorm Objects Choose 1 of these objects to describe. Why is this object significant? Create the moment through your writing. Use Descriptive Language

7 Brainstorm People Create a list of people you have significant history with.

8 Brainstorm People Now, choose one person to describe. Focus on the moment in time with this person.

9 Brainstorm Songs Create a list of songs that have impacted your life or resonate in some way.

10 Brainstorm Songs Choose one song. Explain its significance in your life. Write about the moment(s) in time this song affected your life. Paint the picture.

11 Brainstorm Places Create a list of places that stick out in your lifetime. Think about significant moments and where those moments took place.

12 Brainstorm Place This time, choose one of those places to draw in as much detail and imagery as possible. (Who cares if you aren’t an artist!)

14 Brainstorm Food Choose one type of food to describe. Explain its importance.
