E dison is the third most prolific inventor in history, holding 1,093 US patents in his name, as well as many patents in the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. He is credited with numerous inventions that contributed to mass communication and, in particular, telecommunications. These included a stock ticker, a mechanical vote recorder, a battery for an electric car, electrical power, recorded music and motion pictures. His advanced work in these fields was an outgrowth of his early career as a telegraph operator. Edison originated the concept and implementation of electric-power generation and distribution to homes, businesses, and factories – a crucial development in the modern industrialized world. His first power station was on Manhattan Island, New York.prolific inventorUS patents in his namemass communication telecommunicationstelegraphpower station Manhattan Island

The classical example of thermionic emission is the emission of electrons from a hot metal cathode into a vacuum (archaically known as the Edison effect) in a vacuum tube... Edison built several experiment bulbs, some with an extra wire, a metal plate, or foil inside the bulb which was electrically separate from the filament. He connected the extra metal electrode to the lamp filament through a galvanometer. When the foil was given a more negative charge than the filament, no charge flowed between the foil and the filament...

Thomas Alva Edison (1847–1931) is considered one of the greatest inventors in history because of his numerous contributions to modern technology. A scientific genius who received only three months of formal schooling, Edison registered more than 1,300 patents (exclusive rights to make, use, or sell) for new inventions during his lifetime

The American entrepreneur Thomas Alva Edison credited in the popular imagination as the inventor of moving pictures benefited from years of hard work and ingenious development by artists, scientists, and even magicians on both sides of the Atlantic. Various devices created in the mid 19th century made use of the persistence of vision by displaying sequences of images in rapid succession which caused the brain to link these images together into an uninterrupted, continuous motion. To us these early attempts would look jittery and full of stutters but early viewers were astonished. Inventors capitalized on this amazement by using words like phantasm, magic, and fantasy as part of the names given to these early moving picture machines.

Thomas Alva Edison was born on February 11, 1847 in the town of Milan, Ohio.1 His parents, Sam and Nancy Edison, were of Canadian origin and had six children prior to Thoma1 s, only three of whom survived. Thomas Alva Edison is a revered icon in the U.S. and around the world. Many credit him with developing electricity and lighting up the world. He is credited with the invention of the incandescent light bulb,
