2 Overview Prep- Year 2 specific program Year 2 Strings Program All Year 3-6 students to participate in 2 activities Wide range offered – After school – During school 2

3 Prep to Year Two Girton Games – Offered after school on Tuesday afternoons 3.30pm-4.15pm – Students play a variety of skill based games Soccer – Offered after school on Monday afternoons 3.45pm-4.15pm – Students play a variety of skill based games – Students play a game of soccer once a Month 3

4 Prep to Year Two Mini netball – Offered during a Wednesday lunch time – Skills and general rules taught – Both boys and girls can participate Mini tennis – Only for Year 2. Offered after school on Thursday afternoons 3.30pm-4.15pm – Students learn basic skills 4

5 Year Two Strings Program All Year Two Students participate Students get the choice of playing either the violin or viola The Strings Program is an assessed program, with grades and levels achieved by students Ran during timetabled class time 5

6 Year Three to Year Six Basketball – Training on Wednesday afternoon 4.00pm-5.00pm – Play in a local competition on Friday nights from 5.00pm Netball – Training on Thursday afternoon 4.00pm-5.00pm – Play in a local competition on Saturday mornings from 9.00am 6

7 Year Three to Year Six Rowing – Training on Monday morning at Lake Weeroona 6.30am-7.30am – Compete in local competitions Cricket – Training on Thursday afternoon 4.00pm-5.00pm – Play in a local competition on Saturday mornings from 9.00am 7

8 Year Three to Year Six Swimming – Training on Wednesday morning 5.00am-6.00am – Swim in local squads and competitions Girton Singers – Rehearsal for singing groups vary, usually either at lunch time or after school. – Different tutors will tutor different singing groups – Perform at assemblies, Open Days and in competitions 8

9 Year Three to Year Six Music Lessons – Range of instruments are offered from drums, strings, bass, horns. – Lessons with specialised tutors – Lessons arranged with tutors during lunch or after school – Assessments and levels are achieved – Play at assemblies, Open Days and local competitions 9

10 Year Three to Year Six Concert Band All students from Years 3-6 participated All students will play an instrument or sing Perform at main events such as Open Days, Foundation Day and Speech Night Increases students motivation to learn an instrument in later years 10

11 Specialist Coaching Coaching for all co-curricular activities comes from either a Girton Staff Member or Parent who has some knowledge for the activity. Hoped students gain something from activity Music co-curriculars have a specialist tutor who is hired by the School 11

12 Community All students who represent Girton as part of a co-curricular activity as expected to uphold the Girton name Girton Uniform must be worn if representing Girton Respect and good sportsmanship is mandatory for participation 12

13 The main priority for these co- curricular activities is to get the students active and involved. Girton hopes all students enjoy it and wishes them all their very best. 13
