Do Now 1)Use the graph to find the solution to the system. x – y = 5 3x + y = 3
2
2)Use the graph to find the solution to the system. 2y = 4x – 12 y + x = 3
3
Graphing Systems w/ Calculators 1)Hit Y= Enter the first equation into Y 1 Enter the second equation into Y 2 2) Hit 2 nd GRAPH 3) Scroll up or down until you find the point where Y 1 and Y 2 are equal.

Graphing Linear Inequalities

Solutions An ordered pair (x,y) is a solution if it makes the inequality true. Are the following solutions to 3x + 2y ≥ 2 ? (0,0)(2,-1)(0,1) 3(0) + 2(0) ≥ 2 0 ≥ 2 Not a solution 3(2) + 2(-1) ≥ 2 4 ≥ 2 Is a solution 3(0) + 2(1) ≥ 2 2 ≥ 2 Is a solution

Steps to Graphing Linear Inequalities 1. Solve for y, graph points, don’t connect yet. * reverse if you divide both sides by a negative 2. If > or <, the line should be dotted. If > or <, the line should be solid. ** open circle = dotted line, closed circle = solid line 3. If > or >, shade UP from the line. If < or <, shade DOWN from the line.
7
The graph of an inequality is the graph of all the solutions of the inequality. All of the shaded points are solutions to the inequality. Important Note
