2 One in five cars on the road in the morning is doing the school run.

3 The average walk to school takes about 25-30 minutes, which is half of the recommended daily amount of moderate physical activity for children.

4 Girls should try to take 12,000 steps a day and boys 15,000. If you walked from Lands End to John O’Groats, you would take about 2 million (2,000,000) steps.

5 If you walk for 10 minutes you burn off about 15 calories. There are 270 calories in a mars bar.

6 If you walk to school once a week, instead of travelling by car, you’ll save, on average, 30 balloons of carbon dioxide, the gas that is damaging our planet
