2 Public Records As defined in RCW 40.14: ANY records, regardless of physical form or characteristics, that have been made by or received by any agency of the state of Washington in connection with the transaction of public business

3 The State Archivist: Manages, centralizes, and makes available the archives of the State Inspects, inventories, catalogs, and arranges retention and transfer schedules of all state departments and state agencies Establishes procedures for the handling of public records

4 Purpose of WAC To ensure that electronic public records that have archival value are securely preserved for present and future access.

5 Proposed Rules: Reiterate that electronic records are also public records that need to be preserved Define what records need to be saved that currently are not Set forth procedures for use of the State Archives
