4 Bylaws 16 months, 20 Days, 11 hours

5 Bylaws – DRAFT - Proposal Draft “Proposals for amendments to these by-laws may be made by any Faculty member at a Faculty meeting. They shall then be distributed to the Faculty by the Secretary within ten days after the meeting.” This presentation is to get your feedback ahead of the final presentation in May.

6 Major Changes Name of the body Membership Consultation Separation of Standing Rules from Bylaws

7 Name Currently Officially - Faculty Governance Unofficially – College Governance Proposed Change Academic Governance

8 Membership Currently – only faculty members are clearly voters To clarify and be more inclusive – Change Membership to: 1. Faculty 2. Professional Staff (30) 3. Students (USA/GSA President and any active committee members)

9 Separation of Bylaws and Standing Rules Currently – bylaws have everything including operating procedures Change to: – Bylaws (full vote of Membership) Membership Voting Officers Standing Committees Consultation – Standing Rules (changed by Executive Committee with Membership having veto power) Committee composition Procedures Guidelines

10 Consultation Still working on this but: “In all matters affecting the academic mission the Membership of Academic Governance must be consulted. Consultation refers to a mutual, publicly shared governance process of deliberation between the President and/or their official designee(s) and the Membership.”

11 Smaller Changes 25% Administrative Workload Allocation for Executive Chair Term Limits with clear definition of when officers can return to position Descriptions of UFS senator and SU Senator Sunsetting of COPSO Absentee Ballot provision

19 Actions: New/Revised Courses FCH 550 Polymer Science: Synthesis and Mechanisms (change of semester) FCH 552 Polymer Science: Properties and Technology (change of semester) – Review for impacts to affected programs, and for ability of students to complete program in 4 semesters

21 Actions: New/Revised Policy At least six (6) credit hours of the coursework used to satisfy an ESF-administered minor must be from ESF-registered courses taken while the student is matriculated at ESF. CoC is receiving comments and suggestions.

22 Proposals MANY! See the website. Consult with your CoC representative and curriculum coordinator. Other: – Consider effect of minor changes on program or course learning outcomes – Shared resource courses: Instructional quality for graduate level varies EFB and GSA surveys Varied responses – Discussion-based courses vs other methods Need more 600-level instruction Faculty resources, course enrollment
