8. 8 NLR S.C.G. Activities at PALs Home Lucknow & Sitapur Mr. Daan Ponsteen, NLR Project Officer, Amsterdam & C.R. NLR visited Leprosy Colony Adarsh Kushth Ashram Lcuknow on 22 nd January & Arjunpur Kushth Ashram Sitapur on 23 rd January 2010. Observed Self Care Practice by PALs, Dressing of Ulcers & Discussion with PALs in PALs Home. Distribution of Aids, Appliances & Dressing material eg. Wheel Chair, Grip-aids, Spectacles & Crutches to PALs required. Same day distribution of T-shirts was done.

11. 11 Major Problems & Identified Solutions S.NO.PROBLEMSSUGGESTIONS 1.Counseling of Patients & their family at the time of registration is weak DLO /DN is requested to train NMS, NMA & Pharmacist as on job training. 2.Assessment of Disability status by NMA at Registration is Poor NMAs to be trained alongwith MOs by DN & LPAs. 3.Knowledge of NLEP /GHC Staff is weak in Reaction management & Self care DLOs in NLEP staff meetings, Supervision & LPAs on visit to HCFs to build the capacity of staff. 4.Healthy contact examination is not done in every Districts. DLO / DN are requested to monitor on their Supervisory visits ( On Job trg.) LPAs are doing this job already. 5.Referral unit is established in every district Hospital of Lcuknow zone. But cases are not referred from Periphery in all districts. DLO / DN should make wide publicity among HCFs & Leprosy Staff to refer complicated cases.

12. 12 6.Validation of U/T cases is not regular in few districts DLO /DN are requested to validate U/T cases regularly. 7.Supervision reports are not prepared & sent to S.L.O. timely DLOs are requested to send Supervision reports to SLO in time & regularly. 8. Weak Supervision & Monitoring in few Districts DLO /DN to take necessary steps. 9.ST & VMT not done in few HCFs. DLO / DN is requested to practice NMSs & NMAs for ST & VMT during monthly Staff meetings. 10.IEC & Community awareness to be improved DN to arrange IEC camps in Health Examination Melas which is held in every HCFs.
