2. Project BUILD’s Goal  A violence prevention program for youth in detention to help them over come problems they may face in their community such as gangs, drugs, and crime.  The overall goal is to reduce youth arrest rates and keep youth from engaging in a life of crime.

The rate is currently 172 arrests per year in Albany county. It would be much better to be closer to 125 arrests per year in Albany county.This problem is a result of peer groups, family involvement, gang affiliation. (Jennings, Wesley, Mildred Maldonado- Molina and Kelli Komro. 2010.). Executive Director, Associate Director, Child development and Family & Community Services Manager, Program Coordinators, Probation Officers, Parent Participation, Cooperation from Albany County Juvenile System, computers, assessments, strategies to involve families,, Meeting room, office space,. youth under 16 will participate in Project BUILD, a program that A prevention program to help youth overcome problems they face in order to stay away from becoming a juvenile offender. the outputs will be a monthly count of how many youth under 16 sign up for and participate in the program The percent of arrest rates among youth will be lower for those participating in the program as compared to those not participating. The community problem of youth arrest rates will decline from the current amount of 172 arrests per year in Albany county closer to the desired lower level of 125 arrests per year in Albany county.

6. Literature Review  Jennings, Maldonado-Molina, and Komro. Youth who are affiliated with delinquent youths are more likely to become delinquent.  Tapia, M. -This study shows the positive correlation between youth gang membership and arrests.  Dembo, et al. –Parent involvement and check up is important in keeping children from engaging in criminal activity.
