6. * 1930- Clyde Tombaugh discovered the planet Pluto. * 1952- Dwight D. Eisenhower was the first native of Kansas to be elected President of the United States. * 1954- Thurgood Marshall won his case Brown vs Board of Education of Topeka.

7. * There were four major battles in the Civil War fought in Kansas. These included: The Lawrence Massacre, The Baxter Springs Massacre, Battle of the Osage, and Battle of the Trading Post.
