11. A Brother Like That A friend of mine named Jack got a new car from his brother as a Christmas present. On Christmas Eve Jack came out of his office. He saw a boy was walking around his bright new car. “Is this your car, Mister ? ” the boy asked. Jack nodded. “My brother gave it to me for Christmas.” The boy was astounded. “You mean your brother gave it to you and it didn’t spend you anything?...I wish…” He hesitated. Of course Jack knew his wish. He hoped he had a brother like that. But the boy’s words jarred Jack all the way down to his heels. “I wish that I could be a brother like that.” Jack looked at the boy in surprise, then he asked, “Would you like to take a ride in my car?” “Oh yes, I’d love that.” After a short ride, the boy said, “Mister, can you drive in front of my house?” Jack smiled a little.
