©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Chapter 8 The “World” Matrix Page 221

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Description – “World” Matrix The “World” Matrix refers to the “external world” – all that is “outside” you. Your “internal” world is your “mental map” and your “external” world is your “territory.” Page 223

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics The way we Map our World – Is a product of how we view our sense of – Self Others Power and Resourcefulness If one views oneself as competent, resourceful, strong, respectful, etc., one will have little problem navigating the world. Page 224

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Intentions/ Outcomes I will not be found without resources to survive. People are out to get me. I will live my life always on guard. I do not want people to see me in my weakness or they will take advantage of me. Life is out of control. I will never again get out of control.  Page 224

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Intentions/ Outcomes I will not do anything that will draw attention to me. I will avoid speaking situations that will attract attention to me. I will try to be successful by avoiding all opportunities to speak. Page 224

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Conclusions Drawn – I should be doing better. I got to do something. I got to get it done. “The whole issue revolves around ‘caring how I talk.’” I won’t succeed. I am out of control. I got to get control. I’ve got to keep my guard up. Page 224

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Ego-Strength 1 “Ego-strength” in psychology refers to our “cognitive” strength. A person with a healthy “ego strength” has the ability to effectively adjust to, and respond to, whatever reality the world gives them. Page 224

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Ego-Strength 2 A person who has a healthy ego-strength faces the world as it is without flinching. This person knows that he/she has the needed resources to meet the challenges that comes. A weak ego-strength person will be highly threatened by real or perceived threats. Page 225

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Patterns for Re-Defining Our “World” New Behavior Generator Distinguishing Between the “Map” and the “Territory” The “Mind-to-Muscle” Pattern Page 226

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics 1) The New Behavior Generator 1. Identify a part or function the person needs. 2. Access and anchor the components that make up this part. 3. Create a movie scenario within the imagination. 4. Ecological check. 5. Satisfy all objections. 6. Experience the movie. 7. Program it into their unconscious. 8. Test and future pace. pp. 227-228

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics 2) The Map Is “Not” the Territory Those who change – Recognize the value of creating a map that accurately, as far as symbolically possible, maps the present moment. Recognize that their map is not the territory and will eliminate the problem of cause-effect in their lives. Recognize that the words and images inside their heads are not “real” in the sense that they are absolute and unchangeable. Page 229

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Figure 8:1 A Case Study Mind-to-Muscle Page 232

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Mind-to-Muscle Pattern 1. Identify a principle to incorporate. 2. Describe the principle as a belief. 3. Reformat the belief as a decision. 4. Rephrase the belief and decision as an emotional state or experience. 5. Turn the emotions into actions. 6. Step into the action and let the higher levels of your mind spiral. pp. 233-234

©2005 Institute of Neuro- Semantics Summary Steps Mind-to-Muscle “I understand…” “I believe…” “From this day forward I will…” “I feel and experience…” “The one thing that I will do today as an expression of this understanding, concept, belief, decision and state is….” Step into your higher understandings and bring it back down through numbers 2 to 5. Repeat this looping to install. Page 233
