“That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” 1 Corinthians 2:5

Evidence for God’s Existence Atheism VS. Theism: If there is no God, one is left with a number of highly improbable and unreasonable conclusions. Matter would have to be eternal, yet become more organized with time. Chance would have to account for the existence of everything. A person would have to be God to KNOW that God does not exist. The problem of evil would be an illusion!

Evidence for God’s Existence Cause & Effect (The Cosmological Argument) Cause & effect implies an “uncaused first cause” –“What caused the world to exist?” –Most atheists believe that the universe began with a “big bang,” but they have no empirical evidence or explanation for what caused it! “All the evidence we have says that the universe had a beginning” (Alexander Vilenken). “Many people do not like the idea that time has a beginning, probably because it smacks of divine intervention” (Stephen Hawking). God is the only reasonable explanation! (He is “eternal” -- Deuteronomy 33:27)

What do the following Bible verses say about what caused the universe? –Hebrews 3:4 –Hebrews 1:10 –Romans 1:20 –Hebrews 11:3 –Genesis 1:1 –Isaiah 66:1-2a Reason to Believe

If God is the “uncaused first cause,” He could not have had a beginning. What do the following verses say about the existence and eternal nature of God? –Psalm 90:2 –Exodus 3:14-15 –2 Peter 3:8 Reason to Believe Time

Evidence for God’s Existence The Moral Nature of Mankind Humans have a built-in sense of right & wrong and “fair play.” –We are moral beings. –Material things don’t live by a moral code. –How could our morality have come from non- moral matter? –The most reasonable explanation for man’s moral nature is that a Moral Being (God) brought us into existence and coded morality into our make-up!

Reason to Believe “For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) -- Romans 2:14-15 Did the Gentiles who were not given God’s law still have a sense of right and wrong? According to the passage, where did this sense of morality come from?

Evidence for God’s Existence Design Demands a Designer (The Teleological Argument) The wisdom and intelligence of God are seen in His creation (Psalms 104:24; 136:5; Proverbs 3:19). –God’s creative skill is like that of a “master craftsman” (Proverbs 8:22-31). –The existence of a watch requires the existence and skill of a watch-maker –The existence of the world declares that God exists and that He is a skillful designer and builder.
