3 What do you need if you must leave your house for a few days?  1. Keep a full tank of gas in your car. gas tank fill gas tank

4 Watch Out! Gas stations may be closed during emergencies and unable to pump gas during power outages. power outage = no electricity

5 What happens if the electricity is off for a few days?  2. Keep some cash at home. Place some small bills in a safe place at home. No ATMs

6 What do you need to wear if you have to be outside for a few days?  Wear a long sleeved shirt,  and sturdy shoes,  and long pants,  and a hat. 3. Wear clothing that provides some protection.

7 What do you need in your car if you have to leave home for a few days?  First aid kit  Water  Blanket  Flashlight  Batteries for the flashlight 4. Keep some supplies in your car.

8 How will you leave your city if there is an earthquake? One car for one family If you do not have a car, call the city hall and take the emergency bus. 5. Take only one car per family.

9 Make a list of supplies in groups and then discuss as a class.  Power outage  Earthquake What supplies do you need at home if the lights go out? What supplies do you need at home if there is an earthquake?

10 6. Get prepared!  Talk with your family.  Decide what you will do when… there is an earthquake in your city. there is a power outage in your city. there is a flood near your house.
