1. What is an argumentative essay?  An argumentative essay is an essay in which the writer presents an argument for OR against something.

2. What will go into the first paragraph of this core curriculum argumentative research essay? Begin with three questions followed by three shocking statements that will grab your reader! State your position. State three reasons why you support this position. Use at least seventy-five words!

3. What will go into the second paragraph of this core curriculum argumentative research essay? This is the paragraph in which you will prove your first reason with two direct quotes from your research sources. This paragraph will be at least 200 words in length.

4. What will go into the third paragraph of this core curriculum argumentative research essay? This is the paragraph in which you will prove your second reason with two direct quotes from your research sources. This paragraph will be at least 200 words in length.

This is the paragraph in which you acknowledge your opposition’s viewpoint using a direct quote from your research. Then, refute your opposition’s viewpoint by showing that it is illogical or that the pros outweigh the cons using a direct quote. This paragraph should be at least 200 words!

7. What will go into the sixth paragraph of this core curriculum argumentative research essay? Restate your argument! Summarize all of your major points! Close with a strong statement! This paragraph will be at least seventy-five words!

8. What must we include on our glossary page? From your research, extract fifteen words that you are unfamiliar with. Alphabetize them, define them and write your own original sentence with each of them!

9. How shall you cite your sources?  You will have fun citing your sources in the MLA format!

10. How shall our paper be organized?  Be sure to double-space and use a Times New Roman 12 font.  Use only one side of standard white computer paper and black ink.  Staple all sheets together.  Place a heading with name, date and class on first sheet.  Upload to turnitin.com!  The fun ends April 7 th !
