Our Journey so far... Taking on board Ramon Lewis’ strategies and approaches: ‘drip-feeding’ staff through professional development every three weeks. Reinforcing (and in some cases introducing) discipline techniques: * Hints and non-directional descriptions of unacceptable behaviour (describing what the student is doing wrong and expecting them to stop) * Talking with students to discuss the impact of their behaviour on others * Involving students in classroom discipline decision-making * Recognising the appropriate behaviour of individual students or the class (rewarding individual students who behave properly)

Where to now ?

Making our school based values student friendly. Teamwork We will work collaboratively with colleagues, students and all members of the school. Commitment We will commit to each other and all we do as a school community Humour We will embrace all we do with a positive attitude Learning We will be open to new ideas, encourage innovation and provide opportunities for growth and change.

Introduce and Implement Restorative Practises Croxton School currently implements the BOUNCE BACK! Program. Restorative Practises will run in conjunction with this program In 2008 (Term 2), we had an introductory Professional Development conducted by Donburn Primary School staff We have started to implement some aspects of Restorative Practises to see how our students respond to these new processes In Term 4 of 2008, we will have a one hour Professional Development conducted by John Roberts, from the region In Term 1 of 2009, we will have a curriculum day facilitated by Marg Armstrong from ‘Just Practices’ Conducting a Parent Information Evening in 2009, explaining and going through the program.

In conclusion… The two most important pieces of advice offered by Margaret Metzger (2002) to teachers trying to ensure that students remain motivated to behave responsibly are: first, don’t escalate, de-escalate secondly, let students save face
