2 What do we know about 2015 content? Based upon PA Core Reported to be more “rigorous” –Depth of questions 2014 – 5 th grade In Jean’s class there are twice as many boys as girls. If there are 10 girls in the class, how many boys and girls are there in the class? 2015 – 5 th grade Ruth and Mari sold fruit baskets for a school fundraiser. Ruth sold 42 fruit baskets. Mari sold twice as many fruit baskets as Ruth. They sold each fruit basket for $9. What is the total amount of money Ruth and Mari made selling fruit baskets? Standard: Use whole numbers or decimals to compute accurately.

11 Our “take-aways” Haverford students have NOT changed. The assessment HAS changed. Some content must be taught a full grade level earlier than under the previous Academic Content Standards New assessments require deeper knowledge, stronger problem solving and critical thinking skills

12 Our actions We will stay the course implementing curricula aligned to the PA Core standards which were Department Of Education approved in late 2013
