Maps Ferdinand Magellan’s route A picture of Portugal

Accomplishments Magellan named the pacific ocean and led the first expedition. Magellan was an explorer who entered the service of Spain to lead the expedition around the world.

Interesting Facts His parents died when he was about ten years old.
At age 12 he became a page to Queen Leonor Ferdinand had a close personal friend named Francisco Serrao. Joined military expedition to Morocco. On the expedition he suffered a wound that made him walk with a limp for the rest of his life. Named the pacific ocean ( Pacific ocean means a calm and peaceful ocean ) He was killed in the Philippines.

Advanced Technology Ferdinand Magellan would be amazed by the ships we have now. When Magellan went on the expedition, their ships weren’t as advanced as the ships we have today. Another item that we have today and Ferdinand Magellan would be amazed by, is our GPS’s we have today. When Magellan was on his expedition, they didn’t have GPS’s like we do today. They used maps instead to locate where they are and where to go. Not only did the people back then use maps, but they used compasses too! Our compasses today are more advanced than they were in the 1400’s and 1500’s.
