There have been some significant developments in Software due to the work an competition of such firms as Dell, Microsoft and Google. They include:
Computer Aided Design (CAD)
‘Free Software’
Specialist Software
E-Commerce

6. 1.2 Software (2)
Computer Aided Design (CAD) – enables a user to draw sophisticated diagrams, images and pictures in a precise/accurate format (used by car designers and architects)
‘Free Software’ - including Picasa and Microsoft Photo Story to create electronic photo albums with soundtracks, titles and captions.
Specialist Software – including call logging, Management Information Systems and System Databases to improve the overall performance of an organisation.
E-Commerce – including search engines, online shopping and payment systems to allow trade to occur online.
