It wasn’t until approximately 10,000 years ago, that the agriculture revolution started. Families began to homestead within close proximity of each other. Employment opportunities displaced family members to work in factories on assembly lines, and the students received a factory type education. The scale of manufacturing greatly enhanced which lead to the terminology of mass production of goods and services. 1750 – 1950 AD

Toffler noted that since late 1950s most countries are moving away from a Second Wave Society into what he would call a Third Wave Society. This shift has been the effect of family structures, transportation, and work dynamics. With the rise of technology in the workplace and schools, the method of how we work and learn are continually being tested for enhanced productivity. 1950 - 2000

Toffler and Thornburg discussed the power of collaboration and communication by social networking online while still having the power of using the technology as an informational tool.
